Mikael has many years experience as a professional musician, after extensive and ongoing education and training.
Attending several schools of music in Sweden and the United States, Mikael graduated with a Master of Fine Arts from the prestigious Royal Academy of Music, Stockholm,
majoring on saxophone in the soloist program 1986. He later graduated from the Grove School of Music, Los Angeles, after attending the Professional Instrumental Program
led by multi-Grammy winning Jazz legend Rob McConnell, 1989. In 1992, Mikael also attended courses in the D.M.A. program with a Major in Saxophone at the University of Southern California (USC).
The legendary Phil Sobel was Mikael’s teacher for several years in Los Angeles.
As a saxophone/woodwind pro Mikael has played with the Norrbotten Big Band as a tenured tenor saxophonist, clarinet and flute player (1987-1988). Norrbotten Big Band is the only full time state sponsored Big Band in Sweden.
He was also tenured on saxophone as a member of the Östgöta Wind Symphony Orchestra, (1988-1997). Östgöta Wind Symphony Orchestra is one of the main wind orchestras in Sweden.
Mikael also enjoys teaching and is also working as saxophone teacher at Sigtuna Kulturskola.
Mikael plays all styles equally as a section player, lead player or soloist and has many years of professional experience with all kinds of artists.
He plays all the saxophones, clarinets and flutes. All on top professional level.
Mikael is now working as a freelance musician with more variety and opportunities.
